As part of our dynamic information services team, you will play an integral role in our nationally and internationally recognized city organization, which delivers quality services to the unique City of Eugene. The Database Administrator performs a variety of highly complex professional work in the analysis, design, implementation, maintenance, problem resolution, development, and performance optimization of databases in a multi-tier architectural environment. Also, performs other technical tasks relative to the administration of City databases. Provides direct support for the design, customization, development, and implementation of enterprise-wide application software from multiple sources, both in-house and vendor-provided such as PeopleSoft, Laserfiche, etc. Provides direct support for the integration of data from, and interfaces and data flows between and among multiple applications from multiple sources, both in-house and vendor-provided. Work Schedule: 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday with additional or flexible hours as needed to meet business needs. Salary Range: Database Administrator 1: $66,996.80 - $86,652.80/ Annually; Database Administrator 2: $72,883.20 - $96,220.80/ Annually. Work Location: Information Services, 100 W. 10th Avenue, Suite 450, Eugene.
Examples of Duties Performed
Database Administrator 1:
Installation and upgrade of database server and application tools.Perform system analysis and design of new database systems and modify database structures as needed. Implement and control database and application server security. Ensure that databases are backed up and recoverable. Migrate and restore databases as needed. Create database reports and stored procedures as needed. Implement, manage and monitor database replication. Work closely with Development Teams regarding database design and updates. Troubleshoot database performance issues. Manage the City's database servers.
Database Administrator 2:
Take lead in vendor system implementation which may involve application server and sql server sizing, capacity planning, software installation, patching and upgrade, keeping in mind security best practice.Design, create and maintain test systems for Peoplesoft and Laserfiche or additional systems that the City DBAs manage.Ensure optimum system performance through best practice sql server installation with use of alerts to proactively deal with system performance issues.Ensure compliance with database vendor license agreement.Develop automated interfaces between systems complete with notifications on error and on completion.Ensure system availability by setting up safety measures for data recovery.Ensure that systems are well documented for training and maintenance purposes. Continuous review of processes for improvements in performance and security.Research emerging database technologies and updates and recommend changes to management. Serve as Project Manager
Minimum Qualifications
Experience and Education: Four years of increasingly responsible experience in PeopleSoft and database design/programming. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server required. Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science or a closely related field.
