Location Little Rock, AR Shift Available to work anytime between 07:00a and 06:00p M-F Part-Time/(PRN) Position Ultrasound Technician Position Requirements Qualifications EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE • Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or Cardiovascular Technology Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is required. • At least 5 years of ultrasound/sonography experience LANGUAGE/MATH/REASONING ABILITY • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs • Ability to apply exemplary understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. The scope of practice of the Ultrasound Technician includes those procedures, acts and processes permitted by law, for which the individual has received education and clinical experience, has demonstrated competency, and has completed the appropriate ARDMS certification(s) which is the standard of practice in ultrasound. Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Maintains awareness of all departmental and operational policies of the organization. • Assists in the maintenance of all equipment in the department, including cleaning and QA procedures • Explain the ultrasound procedure to patients and answer any questions they may have. • Maintain ultrasound equipment and sterilize the room in which the procedure takes place. • Spread the ultrasound gel on the surface of the patient's body covering the internal area being imaged. • Perform the ultrasound ensuring the transducer (probe) is capturing images of every angle/section that must be assessed. • Evaluate the images for their quality, but also to interpret what was captured in the image. • Present images and preliminary findings to physicians and the healthcare team. • Maintain patient records and add medical notes related to the ultrasound procedure. • Explain the ultrasound procedure to patients and answer any questions they may have. • Perform other duties as assigned Safety/Infection Control • Demonstrate knowledge of and adhere to regulations and organizational policies and procedures pertaining to safety, emergency preparedness, infection control, OSHA, fire safety and hazardous materials Performance Improvement • Participate in performance improvement activities as necessary Customer Service • Maintain confidentiality of patient related issues • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills • Treat all patients, visitors, and staff members fairly and with respect • Utilize effective communication methods and skills • Explain all procedures, treatments, and care while remaining aware of language barriers • Able to perform care in non-judgmental manner and recognize discrepancies between patient and personal beliefs Organizational Policy • Ensure personal appearance is clean and neat • Attend all organizational required meetings and in-service education • Remain flexible in staffing patterns and resolution of staffing conflicts; participates in temporary assignments • Compliance with attendance standards • Demonstrate flexibility when changes in assignments are necessary About the Organization We are an established, fast paced Gastroenterology center in Little Rock, AR continuing to grow and serve Little Rock and the surrounding communities.
