Summary: Works at presses, assists machine operators, removes parts from press, separates parts from scrap, assembles parts, stacks or packages parts and operates equipment (i.e. pump trucks, etc) by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned) Follows all plant safety guidelines, practices and procedures. Regular attendance is essential. Works in a team environment ensures helpers understand their role, knows what precautions are necessary and where emergency stop buttons are. Understands and can interpret Company Work Orders and JCP's, and uses the information to determine materials required, number of parts to package, etc. Has a basic understanding of the machine he/she is working at, such as how to separate parts from scrap as they exit a machine, how to stack/package parts, what defects to look for, how to assemble and label containers, how to dispose of scrap/waste, how to assist with die-installation, how to prepare (unwrap) material being fed into a machine, and how the guards and other safety devices work, including the emergency stop buttons Helps machine operators keep track of number of parts cut, number of bad parts, and communicates with the operator regarding machine problems, material positioning causing bad parts etc. Gets or requests materials needed, assembles totes, prepares skids, bags and boxes for packaging. Packages specific number of parts on skids, in bags, boxes, etc., labels them, stacks bags of parts on racks, or in appropriate packaging and moves totes/skids of parts to a storage area or to the next operation by using a pump truck. May work at cleaning table to remove "scrap" or separate bad parts and packages in appropriate container. Ensures that safety devices are in place and reports any unsafe behavior or situation. Is aware of activities in working surroundings and is responsible for keeping the area clean, tidy and safe. Reports any unsafe act, condition, accident or injury immediately to supervisor. Understands and follows the lockout procedure. Performs continuous quality checks (as outlined in JCP) when cleaning die-cut parts. Job Details Forming Fabricator Using shrinking/stretching machinery to line parts up with their specific form. Requires a repair mentality as these parts will be formed a little at a time. Reviews manufacturing planning, part-specific engineering information, set-up information and/or related instructions to understand appropriate work process and quality requirements for completed product. For machine dependent operations, selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures and/or cutting tools, attachments, accessories and material to machines (i.e. set-up machine) and starts and observes machine operation during first part production to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions. Adjusts machine controls or other control media as required. Depending upon work center assignment, the operator will set-up and operate one or more of the following machines: hydraulic shear, chop saw and forklift. Set-up and tear-down may require the use of a forklift and/or other material handling equipment. Uses gauges, scales, calipers, mylars and/or blueprints, customer tools and other measuring equipment to check first part quality. Obtains first part for buy-off from lead person, supervisor, quality control inspector and/or second team member. Upon buy-off, completes production run for the manufacturing planning operation. Performs 100% inspection of all parts, subsequent to first part buy-off, and completes requirements of applicable statistical process control plans. Where available, uses target times to evaluate timely completion of work. Notifies lead person or supervisor about substantive discrepancies between manufacturing planning target time and actual set-up and/or run times. Responsible for minor machine maintenance and maintaining proper alignment and condition of machine. Completes required documentation, including but not limited to: manufacturing planning operation buy-off, recording of accurate part counts, labor card entry, set-up information, special notes, data collection plans, tie-in information and recording the disposition of non-conforming material. Tears down machine or hand tool set-up upon completion of production run, returning all tools, equipment and accessories to their proper locations. Moves completes part order to next manufacturing operation or staging area. Works with others, using continuous process improvement tools and techniques and just-in-time manufacturing techniques, to develop and install process improvements that positively impact manufacturing through-put, machine and human resources utilization, space utilization, organization and other factors. Assists to incorporate process improvements into document instructions. Actively participates in work center and cross-functional process improvement teams by attending team meetings, completing action items, encouraging complete and respectful discussion and understanding of goals, alternatives and solutions. Field Service Engineer/Technician Job Responsibilities PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform maintenance and repairs plastic injection/extrusion machines at customer locations as directed. Responsible for safe operations of company vehicles and maintaining a driver's license in good standing. Driver's record will be reviewed annually and subject to company policy for driving privileges. Conduct extensive on-site electrical, hydraulic, mechanical and electronic troubleshooting to determine cause for equipment malfunction and establish the necessary repairs utilizing visual inspection, test procedures and appropriate test equipment. Document findings and make corrective recommendations for the equipment to customer, determine customers' intentions to purchase repairs and advise local service office of actions necessary to sell or complete the repairs. Occasionally may be required to perform after-hours services as part of customer's maintenance contract, in response to a service call or on an emergency call due to an equipment breakdown. Responsible for having read and understood the contents of ANSI, and other codes or regulations pertaining to our industry. Although. complete knowledge of every code is not possible, must be familiar with the regulations and refresh knowledge of codes periodically. Responsible for being able to complete and enter service reports daily using proper grammar skills. All paperwork must be signed by customer as evidence of the review and acceptance of workmanship. Signature is our authority to invoice for work completed.
