Job Description

We're looking for a candidate to fill this position in an exciting company.

  • Serves as internal expert with respect to the pay-for-performance/value-based contracting provisions of pharmacy contracts. Leads team in providing contract review, metric development, performance reporting & monitoring, performance forecast modeling, and data/reporting reconciliation. Shares complex information with clarity with cross-functional teams and senior management and makes recommendations on strategies and operating plans to position organization for success against P4P contract provisions. Collaborates with multiple internal business units, including pharmacy operations, to ensure analytic inputs can be consumed in operational workflow.
  • Leads team in providing expertise to define, develop and scale actuarial models and special reports to demonstrate the value of Walgreens as a healthcare partner to B2B clients (payers, PBMs, health systems). Related activities could include opportunity analyses, feasibility modeling, exposure analyses, predictive analytics, and trend management reporting.
  • Serves as internal expert on data sources and methodologies used by third-parties to assess company performance on metrics included in P4P contracts; identifies and communicates risks/opportunities within established measurement specifications.
  • Monitors industry developments related to pay-for-performance and the move from volume-to-value; shares insights and recommendations internally in terms of impact and opportunity to Walgreens.
  • Directs and oversees actuarial activities and projects by ensuring workflow completion within prescribed timeframes, and compliance with established procedures and regulations.
  • Attends and/or presents findings and results on behalf of the company at major industry conventions and professional conferences to enhance Walgreen's overall market position in healthcare.
  • Develops and mentors staff through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes; builds and maintains employee morale and motivation; ensures the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies; fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 6 years actuarial experience OR High School / GED and at least 9 years actuarial experience.
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries.
  • At least 6 years of experience in the healthcare industry.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software such as SAS, SPSS, Stat, etc.
  • Intermediate level experience with MS Office Suite.
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations to various audience levels, including clients and senior executives.
  • At least 2 years of experience planning, developing, and managing departmental expense, project and/or capital budgets.
  • At least 3 years of experience of direct leadership and/or cross functional team leadership.
  • Willing to travel up to 15% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
