Enterprise for Youth is a San Francisco based non-profit organization founded in 1969 that empowers under-resourced youth to reach their potential through transformative paid internship experiences supported by a community of employers, caring adults and peers.


Under the supervision of the Development Director, the development associate will assist with a broad range of administrative, database and outreach activities in support of all fundraising and development efforts at Enterprise for Youth. These activities include assisting with soliciting and stewarding individual, corporate and foundation donors, with primary responsibility for managing donor data input, extraction and reporting from the DonorPerfect database. The Development Associate will work closely with the Development Director to help prepare two to three fundraising campaigns per year, produce a minimum of three donor events annually, and conduct ongoing donor outreach and stewardship. This position is vital to the long-term financial stability and growth of the organization.

A successful candidate will be familiar and adept at database functionality and be highly detailed oriented. In addition, he/she/they will possess an ability to juggle multiple responsibilities simultaneously and adapt to the changing priorities of a small but nimble team. A passion for giving back to the community and a belief in the importance of assisting the next generation explore and embark on bright futures is a must.


  • Recording all development contributions in DonorPerfect database and maintaining the accuracy of all donor information, keeping records up to date

  • Acting as the primary liaison with the finance team, coordinating the receipt and processing of all development gifts

  • Reconciling DonorPerfect development gift transactions with finance department monthly

  • Producing accurate and timely reporting of gift transactions

  • Creating accurate and timely donor gift acknowledgement letters

  • Delivery of excellent customer service to fulfill the needs of Enterprise for Youth donors

  • Preparing lists for all donor mail and email communications, including fundraising appeals, event invitations and donor stewardship (i.e. Annual Report)

  • Providing support for the development events, Heroes at Work annual gala and Private Collections art tours, as follows:
  • Conduct all event database reporting, including event income, guest and ticket reports
  • Assist with event marketing by coordinating with cultural partners and maintaining event website copy
  • Act as the primary liaison with event guests including creating and distributing all donor event information and correspondence
  • Conduct and coordinate event logistics with collectors for Private Collections
  • Provide logistic support for Heroes at Work for Operations and Administrative Director as needed
  • Prepare profiles/bio's for event attendees

  • Assisting the Development and Communication Directors in preparing and updating copy for donor website pages

  • Updating online Paypal transaction programming as needed

  • Assisting the Development Director in conducting philanthropic donor funding research and prospect identification

  • Supporting the CEO and Development Director in helping to prepare major donor solicitation proposals and stewardship materials such as grant reports as needed

  • Attending weekly meetings and responding to email in a professional and timely manner

  • Supporting Enterprise youth program team events (i.e internship graduation) as needed


  • Experience working in a nonprofit fundraising capacity, or equivalent experience as related to the job description
  • Experience in working with databases and database management; Familiarity with DonorPerfect is a plus
  • Proficient with Google G Suite for Business
  • Excellent written, verbal and electronic communications skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Self-motivated and the ability to see a project through to completion

  • Professional appearance/demeanor and ability to interact with all levels of staff, board members, donors, and volunteers

Training Requirements: Harassment Awareness and Prevention Training (every 2 years)

This position is based in the Financial district of San Francisco, easily accessible by public transportation, located between Montgomery and Embarcadero BART/Muni stations.
