Position Summary:

Join our team as a regular full-time employee, get paid weekly, work a set schedule with opportunities for overtime and receive on-the-job training. Packaging Technicians are critical to growing business success and helping our customers delight their customers by making quality products. In this job, you will perform packaging tasks including program case coders, program bottle coders, set up and change over cases labelers, set up change over bar code print and apply labelers, and hand pack product. Work in a manufacturing environment following appropriate policies and procedures to ensure successful execution of position responsibilities.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Inspect and hand pack products properly at a production line's rate of operation
  • Program case coders during line set up and changeovers as instructed by production schedules and/or customer standards
  • Program bottle coders during line set up and changeovers as instructed by production schedules and/or customer standards
  • Set up case labelers properly during line start up and changeovers as instructed by production schedules and/or customer standards
  • Set up bar code print and apply labelers properly during line start up and changeovers as instructed by production and/or customer standards
  • Responsible for following all food safety policies, procedures and regulatory criteria including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated preventive controls
  • Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • 1 or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Ability to comprehend production schedules
  • Ability to understand and operate case coders, bottle coders, case labelers, and bar code print and apply labelers
  • Ability to maintain hand packing bottles at the filler's rate of operation
  • Understanding of Ventura Foods' safety and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) rules

Physical Demands:

Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Physical strength and dexterity sufficient to perform the required task(s). Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance. Additional demands may be required.

Work Environment:

In addition to normal business hours, work schedules may include after hours and weekends as needed. May work outside and in adverse temperatures which include extreme hot, cold, and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by established Company Safety standards. May require work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet for prolonged periods of time.
